Tuesday, March 29, 2016 Blue Velvet

Cardigan: Primark // Shirt: Project Social T // Jeans: Topshop // Boots: Zara (S/O)
I would love to say that the weather is getting warmer but in reality I go between wearing a summer dress and a down parka.  That's just bipolar New England weather for you.
I've been loving simple layers lately and any excuse to wear my (fairly) new velvet booties from Zara.  My favorite part about these beauties is their height and color.  It's the perfect stormy skies shade of blue and the velvet just gives them that extra edge.  Velvet is definitely becoming a staple in my wardrobe once again.  It's reminiscent of the 90s but Clueless was (and still is) iconic to me and my clothes so maybe I am making Cher proud with this decision... Anyways.
Hope you're all having a great start to the week! More looks to come so be on the lookout. It might be sooner than you think ;)

Thursday, March 17, 2016 Beauty: Anthropologie New Arrivals

Happy Friday, everyone! I thought as a late-week treat I would talk you through the new beauty items available at Anthropologie incase you want to pamper yourself at home this weekend!

One of the perks of working at Anthro is discovering all the brands they partner with.  There are so many great designers, artisans and beauticians that I have discovered and I'm so excited to share the three beauty items I tried with you. I think you'll love them!
The first treatment I tried was  The Formulary 55  RoseHip & Clay Facial Mask. Generally, I try to use a facemask once a week to de-clog my pores of any excess makeup and give my skin a fresh start. This mask is kind of fun in particular because you make it yourself! It comes with a little bag of pink powder and you mix it with water. It says to use half of the bag for a mask but I found that 1/4th of the powder mixed with two tablespoons of water did the trick, and I had some left over.
For all you rose-scented lovers out there, this is definitely the mask for you. Although the clay goes on orange, it dries lighter. Just leave it on for the full fifteen minutes.  It's a bit scary putting it on first because you look like you had a bad fake tan, but it gives you a beautiful, glowing complexion afterwards. I really noticed a difference in the clarity and tone of my skin! Definitely give it a try if you're in the market for some new skin essentials.
If you're like me, you have a love-hate relationship with your hair.  It always seems like I have the best hair days when I'm about to go to bed and not when I need it most, like when I'm in public... Sigh.  Trying hair oils and deep conditioners sometimes do the trick but, I've found a hair mask once every two weeks really restores the balance and strength in my hair.  I love this one from Kocostar Hair Therapy.  I used the Deep Conditioning Steam Hair Wrap, which means you put in on in the shower rather than beforehand.  If you want silky, smooth, shiny hair (I mean, who doesn't, right?) then this is the hair mask you need to try.  It's super simple for those of you who are new to the hair mask phenomenon. Also, don't shy away from it if you have a sensitive scalp! It won't irritate it at all as the mask goes on the body of your hair rather than root to tip.
How to use: 1. Shampoo your hair and wash it out. Dry slightly afterwards.
2. Place cap on head, do not let it touch your scalp.
Fasten the sticker to stay on your head and massage the cap into your locks.
3. Leave on for fifteen minutes.
Alright, this last product is definitely my fav and I think you are going to know why. It's the Mer-Sea & Co. Salt Soak and we all know how much I love a good bath. I picked the scent Saltaire which is a really calming, fresh citrus +jasmine scent. They pretty much have a fragrance for everyone so I encourage you to take a peek online.  Mer-Sea & Co. has a whole range of new pampering products being carried exclusively at Anthropologie. They have everything from bath oils, body conditioners to handmade soaps! What I loved about this bath soak in particular was how it helps relieve the discomfort of sore muscles and de-stress your body.  After a long day on your feet in uncomfortable(but, cute!) shoes, there is no better way to reward yourself with a salt soak.
And there you have it! Have a great, relaxing weekend everybody and let me know if you try any of these products.  I would love to hear about it! :)

Tuesday, March 8, 2016 Beauty: February Favorites

Happy March everyone! I am so excited for Spring and the 70 degree weather tomorrow! With February behind us (and hopefully the snow) I figured it was only right to go over what I loved last month. I don't know about you but I'm absolutely obsessed with watching "Favorites" videos on YouTube because I'm always looking to try new beauty products and I also like being nosey.
February was a bitter cold month which left my hair dry and static-prone. Normally I let my hair air dry before styling it but when it's 0 degrees out, you don't really want to rock a wet head outside.  This Renewing Argan Oil Spray has been a lifesaver when it comes to the dryness of my hair and it eliminates frizz instantly, without any greasy residue.  I also picked up this No Drought Dry Shampoo from Lush and it is definitely one of my hair staples now. It has a light citrus scent and leaves my hair feeling clean, unlike some other dry shampoos that just don't do the trick.
This may sound like old news but I am still fully obsessed with the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. It's just the perfect blend of nudes and gold's which leaves me constantly reaching for it when putting on eye shadow. The specific color I use the most is Sidecar, the best champagne nude with a little sparkle to really brighten your eyes. I finish off eye make up with Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara in Very Black.  The fanned brush really gives a false lash effect without any extra effort and stays on all day. I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance under the eye makeup to make sure it lasts all day as well and it's a holy grail product for me.
I have finicky combination skin which makes it tough to try new face washes and cleansers. After much deliberation, I decided to take a risk and try some new products out from Origins and I am never looking back. The GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser smells like grapefruit and oranges which makes for the best wake-me up when washing your face in the morning. It's gentle and leaves your skin soft which is great for a mild exfoliator.  I use the Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask once a week when my skin is breaking out or just to pamper myself and it clears up any blemishes instantly.
February was a mildly adventurous month for me when it came to makeup. I've been watching a lot of beauty vloggers on YouTube because I enjoy their content, but also enjoy seeing all the products they test out for their looks.  It's a fool-proof way to find new lip colors and foundation recommendations without testing them out yourself. I bought this Rimmel London Lip Pencil in Spice and it has been my everyday lip color ever since. Pro tip: Push the color onto your lips rather than stenciling it on, it will look more natural.  Feeling inspired by Spring and bright colors, I bought the new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Devotion and it is the perfect matte lipstick for a day where you're feeling pretty in pink.
When it comes to foundation, I never try new ones to be frank. I hate finding the right color only to put it on at home for it to be too light or too orange.  After spending some time in Sephora and getting a sample, I bought the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Deauville and it is perfect in every way. Light, buildable, and gives a natural glow. What more could you ask for?
Last but certainly not least, my nail favorite for not only February but all year has been OPI's Tickle My France-y nail polish. It's the perfect pinky nude and paired with the Infinite Shine's primer + top coat it stays on my nails, chip free for at least a week. Great for girls on the go who don't have time for daily touch-ups. I am constantly getting asked what color I'm wearing or if I have a gel manicure but I'm happy to share my little OPI secret with you all!
Hope you enjoyed my February favorites! Let me know what you've been loving this month in the comments and if you want to see more posts like this.
