Sunday, February 28, 2016 winter wear

Jacket: Barbour // Sweater: UO (S/O) // Scarf: Primark // Jeans: Topshop // Brogues: Office UK (similar)
With winter coming to a close (almost) I've been losing a lot of inspiration when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. The weather has been out of whack the past couple of weeks which also leaves me either overdressed or freezing.  So, instead of chancing it, I've been layering it up in my comfiest clothes.

Although it was 60 degrees out today, I figured I would show a little last minute winter outfit to get you through those colder days and help transition you into spring! This quilted Barbour jacket is the perfect piece to add to your outfit for a more put-together look but also add warmth and you can never go wrong with a cozy cable-knit sweater.  As for shoes, when it's not slushy and gross out, I always seem to reach for my brogues because they just add that final touch that puts together an entire outfit.

I feel like I really channeled my inner England-socialite-taking-a-brisk-walk-in-the-park for this look. What do you think? Can you tell I've been missing London lately?

Hope you all have been enjoying the sun and braving the ever-changing weather!

Wednesday, February 24, 2016 Lush Loves: Bath Time Favorites

It honestly comes as no surprise that I love a good bath...

I can feel my friends rolling their eyes from miles away because all I talk about is how much I love bath bombs. A couple years ago I was strictly a shower girl. I had no time to lay in luke-warm water and dilly-dally, I had stuff to do.

But, obviously, last year I tried to procrastinate in any way shape or form that I could and that led me to taking extra long soaks in the tub and playing with bubbles to soothe my "stress".  I was stressed, but I was also trying avoid real world responsibilities.

Maybe it's the glitter or the fact that they turn water into a magical pool of bubbles and rainbows, but I really succumb to the "WOW" factor of each and every Lush product and decided to show my new favorites rather than ranting to anyone who will listen (strangers, my mom, my dog... you get the picture).

So if you're feeling stressed or a little bit adventurous, look out below:

Jingle Bell Bubble Wand (S/O)
This actually came out at Christmas so shame on me for waiting so long to tell you about it.  It's a seasonal bubble wand that smells of cinnamon + orange, and it comes with little jingle bells adorning the stick of cinnamon.  So cute! Bubble wands (or bars) can be used multiple times.  With the wand, you run your water and wait until the bath is half full then wave it around the tub.
This bar has to have one of the best smells I have ever come across.  It's a mix of citrus and patchouli which makes the ultimate everyday fresh, but warm-toned scent.  It also comes in a perfume and body lotion which I've been meaning to get. This bar will turn your bath a deep midnight purple with flecks of gold glitter running through.  Sounds nice, eh? Now I don't seem so crazy for being obsessed...
I genuinely can't even contain my excitement about this little guy right here, IT'S SO CUTE. I'll let Lush describe the scent for you:
"Sink into a magical bath filled with beautiful essential oils, colorful pastel waters, rainbows and dreams. Lavender, ylang ylang and neroli create a unique and uplifting fragrance as mountains of bubbles leave you feeling as enchanting and dazzling as unicorns themselves"
Who has "Let It Go" stuck in their heads already? This bath treat was inspired by the Disney film, Frozen, and does not lack in magical icy blue powers.  It resembles the deep Arctic waters with silver glitter running through.  The scent is very fresh + uplifting with rose-oil and leaves you completely moisturized.
I think the leaf detailing on this is incredible. Lush really never disappoints on their presentation. Since the description online is way better than anything I'll attempt, I'll let you read it here:
"See with eyes uncovered as you find the spirit of the forest, dappled with mossy greens and soft with the shimmer of luster. Prickly on the senses at first, the calming cypress and mystical oakmoss absolute will embrace you, drawing you into the bright, sunlit heart of this woodland bomb. It's packed with its very own forest protector: sustainably-sourced and seriously intoxicating rosewood oil."
Pretty much just imagine the most enchanting woodland bath you can think of and it's that.
Anything moon-related is something that I am guaranteed to love. But, this bath bomb is my all-time favorite, no lie.  If I ever need to calm down after a busy day or need to clear my mind, this shuts my brain right down and gets me ready for bed.  The predominant scent of this little pink delight is lavender and the perfect wind-down essential for a loooooong day. The bath itself changes like a sunset: from a light dusky pink to deep purple and blues. There is no better treat to help you end your day on a relaxing note.
So there it is! I hope you all enjoyed reading about some of my favorite bath treats. I've been thinking about writing a de-stress post and what things I like to do when I'm not feeling like myself. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Dress: Urban Outfitters (S/O)  // Vest: Topshop (similar) // Boots: Zara (S/O)
Every time I wear this dress I get one of two compliments:
"That's a cute dress, you kind of look like a witch, though."
"You look like you're trying to be Marnie from Halloween Town"
Either way, I'm perfectly content with looking like something supernatural.  Plus, from what I remember, Marnie had a dope wardrobe with ponchos and lots of velvet.  Just some points to ponder...
Although it's still winter and blah out, I'm trying to find out ways to spice up my every day outfits but still keep warm.  With it being somewhat mild out (by that I mean you won't get frostbite if you expose your ankles,) I've been reaching for my faux fur vest a lot to create dimension to a normal outfit and make it look fancier than it is.  It seems to be paying off when indoors and it's much less restricting than a sweater.
The dress itself is a beautiful rust color with delicate navy blue vines and blooms adorning it. I was really proud when I picked this number up in the fall and strayed away from my usual palette of black and white--being somewhat adventurous paid off! Although I love to stick to my usual outfit of jeans, cardigan and a blanket scarf, sometimes it's nice to dress up for a change.
Hope you all are having a lovely lazy Sunday! I'm baking pupcakes for my dog Hobson today to celebrate him turning 1.  I think I'll post the recipe if anyone is interested ;)

Kimono: Anthropologie (S/O) // Jeans: Topshop // Boots: Franco Sarto
You must be wondering why it's taken me so long to get my blogging act together after my last post in which I declared a new year and a new-take for this blog.

Well, I've been preparing for this very post, actually.

January was filled with new inspiration for me; chalk-full of new beauty items I tried, a new approach on how to style old pieces, and just overall experimenting with new things and enjoying doing so.

I wanted to take the necessary time to shoot photos properly, edit them to how I like, have some back up posts for those busier weeks and just have fun with it overall-- and with that being said, I'm really excited for the content to come over the course of the next couple months. But anyways, lets get to the outfit.

If you don't know me personally then you wouldn't know that I've been working at Anthropologie for the last few months! It's amazing, but I'm sure for the lot of you that are as obsessed with the brand as I am don't need me rambling on about it!

Anthropologie is filled with unique pieces that can transform an ordinary outfit into extraordinary... no lie. A co-worker of mine had bought this kimono/ poncho thing before I even started there and I would stare and lust after it every time she wore it to work (apparently it sold out in days). Luckily, someone returned theirs and I snagged it up!
I love how it's a piece that speaks for itself and can create dimension to any outfit. I'm on the shorter side but it still folds and compliments all the right areas without looking over-sized.  The details of burgundy velvet and intricate floral patterns create a beautiful piece, and it's super comfy! I wore it over black jeans and a grey tee for a more casual look.  Dress it up with a fitted black body con and knee highs and you'd have a effortless outfit to take you into the evening.

While I usually stray away from anything but a neutral palette these days, this is the perfect piece to introduce a little more color into your closet. Don't be afraid to be a little daring and try something new that scares you. 9 times out of 10 you'll be surprised as to why you waited so long to get on the trend train ( I just made that up but it sounds cute, no?)

Hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments below what you would like to see more of when it comes to fashion-related posts!
