Saturday, January 2, 2016 Well, this is as good as it's going to get

Hello. It's me.

Did you get the Adele reference? I hope so...

So, it's been a while since I blogged on here and I was hoping to explain why, that is, if anyone is reading out there.  If so: Hi, I'm a lazy slacker and I've missed you and got some explaining to do.

2015 was one bumpy ride.  From finishing my senior project  to graduating to moving back home with my parents and searching for full-time work-- it was one challenge after another. Some of you may wonder why I fell off the face of the internet and I have to say, I was sick of it. I was sick of constantly being on my phone and laptop, filtering photos of blog posts and trying to be "smart and savvy" when it came to writing rather than just saying what I honestly felt. I took the summer off to find out what I really want to do with the rest of my life and get away from it all. Happy to report that even though I am not any closer to finding out what I actually want to do but, I have a new sense of peace on how to approach the future now.  Up until this point, my life had been perfectly planned. 22 years of going one school to the next; full of essays, sport practices, choir concerts and events. I'm looking forward to writing some chapters on my own without any guidelines.

One of my best writing experiences was when I let myself be unfiltered abroad.  I wrote down every nitty gritty detail and let my words speak for themselves.  Here, in this space, sometimes I wonder if my sentences are pretty enough or if people will read more than a paragraph. I felt as though I was putting on a preconceived perfected image rather than an actual representation of who I was, or am. So, with that said, with a new year comes a new change.

This is going to be my new space to showcase my life.  Fashion included, but also personal posts, travel longings, lists of things I'd like to do, updates on life and music I like. I guess it's going to be a sneak peek into what actually goes on in my head, and for that I am excited. What is a lifestyle blog without honesty anyway?  Blogging is supposed to delve into the inner mind of its creator so, with that in mind, out will go my cookie-cutter posts. My blog is going to become what I actually envisioned for it to be and I figured now is as good a time as any with a new year and endless ideas.

I hope you'll read and journey through 2016 with me.

Love,

Lauren
